Government launch an enquiry to look at the impact of COVID 19 on the sport sector.

The UK Parliament's Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Committee has launched an inquiry into the impact of Covid-19 on the sport sector. The Committee is now calling for evidence within the sport and physical activity sector and Sporting Equals is seeking to respond with a combined effort from its network. The Call for Evidence is currently set to run for submissions until Friday 19 June.

In order to form our responses, we would appreciate your answers to the following questions:

  • What has been the immediate impact of Covid-19 on the sector?

  • How effectively has the support provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), other Government departments and arms-length bodies (such as Sport England) addressed the sector's needs?

  • What will the likely long-term impacts of Covid-19 be on the sector, and what support is needed to deal with those?

  • What lessons can be learnt from how DCMS, arms-length bodies and the sector have dealt with Covid-19?

  • How might the sector evolve after Covid-19, and how can DCMS support such innovation to deal with future challenges?

To feature yours or your organisation's experience within our joint response, please send your answers to the questions above to our Policy and Engagement Manager, Emily Carter via email at ecarter@sportingequals.org.uk by close of play Friday 29 May 2020.
