In the spring of 2021 , as COVID restrictions were lifted for doing sport outside it was great to see out Beach community rally and open its doors to the volleyball community to get back on court.

Volleyball courts started springing up in parks and open spaces all over the country.

Junior volleyball was once again being coaches inside and a Japanese animation series called Haikyu brought young people flocking into clubs to learn this exciting dynamic sport.

In May sitting volleyball session were again allowed to take place as long as COVID measures were followed.

Richard Osborne - Lead for Sitting Volleyball and Coach at South Hants told us “ It was such a good feeling to be back on court, with fellow team mates after a long 14 months away. Thanks to the funding secured by the VE Foundation, we were well equipped with a brand new impermeable net and incredibly well stocked sanitisation kit, making our return to the floor as safe as possible.”

Also to support our sitting volleyball programme World Paravolley provided 60 new Molten volleyball to be used by the new sitting teams that were being developed. Hull Thunder received their posts, nets and balls and got sitting sessions planned.

In June we were happy to celebrate the 10th birthday of SideOut Volleyball. They do an amazing job promoting and developing Beach Volleyball in Leyton and the surrounding areas. We are looking forward to the next 10 years.

In June the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 tickets went on sale to those who live in the West Midlands - count down to the CWG is on.
