Travelling the World, Meeting World Class Referees & Commentating on Finals...What an Exciting Life to Lead!

Travelling the World, Meeting World Class Referees & Commentating on Finals...Clayton Lucas Gives us an Update on a super busy few weeks he’s had!

The final 4 for the women's Italian Cup was amazing!

As well as commentating the A1 final, I also commentated the A2 final.

The venue in Trieste was full and buzzing.

A flight from London to Venice, then a bus to the train station and a train to Trieste Central.

I mention the trip because having been to both Italian cup finals for men and women, I would highly recommend going.

The value for money is great and you get to see some of the best players on the planet.

In Trieste I got to meet up with Stefano Cesare (pictured below), who was officiating at the finals. Stefano is a world class referee who has worked both beach and indoor Olympic Games.

I also had a co commentator, Marco Vecellio ( https://volleybox.net/marco-vecellio-p27006 )

Marco is from Trieste and played college volleyball in the States. Although having never done any commentary at this level before, he was very enthusiastic and added to the whole event.

All the matches are available to watch on VBTV! as is the rest of the Italian League, the upcoming Volleyball Nations League and the climax to the Beach Pro Tour!  At the VNL we will find out which teams will take the remaining spots at the Olympics in Paris. The Beach Pro Tour will also tell us the teams that will qualify to play in front of the Eiffel Tower!!

Its been a busy month of commentary, organising commentators for the mens and womens Italian League.

The play offs for the men have started and the last match before the playoffs for the women happen on the 24th March.

Right now all the commentary for the Beach Pro Tour and Italian Leagues are worked remotely.

I have a home studio, designed for commentary, voice over and editing.  On site commentary will begin in May.

I will be off to Turkiye, Japan, Philippines and Poland for the mens finals. The Atlas Arena in Łodz is the venue for the mens finals from 27th to 30th June.  One of the absolute best experiences is to watch volleyball in Poland!!! Packed arenas, amazing atmospheres and this year a pre cursor to the Olympic Games!!

In the mean time, I will be working the Italian League and Beach Pro Tour from home and sprinkling in some  house work, cooking, golf and team prep for the VNL.

All the best!”

What an exciting life to lead! Thank-you, as always, for your time, Clayton!
