Supporting the young volunteers of the future.

As a sport we know we need to encourage more young people to become lifelong volunteers in volleyball. To support this vision, during the early part of this year, the foundation secured funding, from a charity auction, donations and a bucket collection, at the national finals, to put towards the training of young people who will support the development and delivery of future volleyball events.

The call went out to clubs and a number of young people came forward and attended their first training session over the last 2 weekends.

This first group are being developed to support the 2022 Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball competition as ball retrievers and sand rakers but the plan is to develop them to support both indoor and beach events in the future.

Jonathan Moore (Beach Volleyball Competition Manager at Brum2022) : "It was fantastic to have the support of the Volleyball England Foundation to enable us to deliver the next generation of event volunteers a training programme in ball retrieving and sand raking.  These roles are fundamental to the operation of the game and we look forward to everyone seeing them do their thing at Smithfield later this month!"

Thank you to everyone who donated items to the charity auction or who donated through the JustGiving page or the bucket collections. Also thank you the clubs who are working with and encouraging their young volunteers to enter the programme, Ashfield Vipers, Tettenhall Tigers, Tamworth Spartans, Coventry and Warwick Riga and Nuneaton VCs. Thank also to the tutors that worked with and supported our young volunteers.

If you would like to contribute to this programme you can donate through our JustGiving page or contact us on foundation@volleyballengland.org
