A HUGE Congratulations to Ron Richards

Everyone at the Volleyball England Foundation would like to say a great big ‘congratulations’ to Ron Richards.

Thanks to his commitment, enthusiasm and dedication over the years, Ron has been awarded a British Empire Medal for “Services to volleyball and the community in the South West of England”, in the King’s Birthday Honours list!!

Ron has been the Secretary of the South West Volleyball Association since 1970, soon after the association was formed. He has had a variety of roles over the years, ranging from being the Vice Chairman of the English Volleyball Association to establishing the Whitefield Volleyball Club (now part of the City of Bristol Volleyball Club). He also took up a teaching post at Priory Community School in Weston Super Mare, and then went onto establishing the Priory Volleyball Club & Priory Volleyball Tournament, alongside coaching the school’s junior teams. More recently he has been the Chair of the Bristol & District Volleyball Association, a post he relinquished earlier in 2023.

As we’re sure you’ll agree, Ron is an asset to the volleyball world, and we are overjoyed to hear that his commitments have been recognised.

Congratulations, Ron!
