Birmingham Sport Summer Holiday Scheme

Over the summer, hundreds of children in & around Birmingham were offered an opportunity to play volleyball for the first time, as part of the Birmingham Sport Summer Holiday Scheme.

This project was delivered in partnership between Birmingham Sport, and ourselves (Volleyball England Foundation), as part of the Legacy Programme from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

The Ark Boulton Centre and the Make A Difference (M.A.D) Birmingham were the groups/organisations that borrowed our equipment, based at Birmingham Sport, over the summer period. The M.A.D Birmingham project is a Sport Birmingham open access youth development programme.

Hopefully, this activity will lead to a community club being set up in the city, as we plan to provide an ‘Introduction to Volleyball’ course for local leaders to enable them to continue delivering volleyball in their communities.
