Dartford take on 'Taskmaster' challenge.
Tell us a little about the history of the club?
We are a Kent-based team established for over 32 years.
We have had Men’s and Ladies teams playing in the NVL for over 10 years. Ladies now competing in Div1 and Men in Div2.
We also have a Men’s and Ladies teams playing in the Kent League and have won the South East Volleyball Association league champions tournament on several occasions.
We regularly take part in summer outdoor tournaments.
What impact of COVID 19 had on the club?
The club hasn’t been impacted significantly, financially as do not have any overheads and most fees are collected by standing order. We are looking at options for giving a rebate to members next season.
Biggest impact will be on our Junior initiative. We started a weekly session from scratch in October and had it up to 25 attendees by March. This was initially subsidised by the club. We plan to restart this and would be interested in obtaining some funding, for hall hire and additional coaching fees.
How are you keeping in touch with your members?
Apart from the usual social media and Zoom catchups, Katie Marriott organised a weekly "Taskmaster" challenge, including build tallest tower, camouflage yourself and create a volleyball scene.
Anna De Pascalis also compiled a video "pepper drill" using submissions from the team.
What do you think will be your biggest challenges once we can get back on court?
The biggest challenges will be returning to fitness without injuries, retaining our current members, and getting them back into the routine.
We will also be following any infection prevention rules during initial phase of returning to the court.
