Yesterday, 20th of March, the Volleyball England Foundation Board welcomed 5 new members to its team.

Over the last 12 to 18 months the Foundation has been focused on developing its governance and growing its following through the website and social media. From a standing start in February last years, the Foundation launched its new website. In the last 12 months the website has had over 13,000 individuals view the site and look at 32,000 pages. Our Facebook page now has over 300 followers and our Twitter page 369 and both growing steadily.

Having achieve the objective of growing our profile the Foundation then set about developing a short term strategy for the next 12 months. This included building greater capacity for the charity and in January we launched our recruitment programme, looking for new Board members. Over the next 10 days we had 46 people request the application pack and from that 23 people applied for the roles. Following a round of interviews 5 people were offered a place on the Board and yesterday attended their first Board meeting.

Manni Sehmbi said “I really enjoyed our first Board meeting and great to finalise which working groups we will be assigned to going forward..”

In addition to the new Board members, the Foundation has also launched a programme to support those who weren’t successful in their application to join the Board, this programme is called ‘Step in to my Shoes’ and is a leadership development programme for potential Board members of the future, if you would like to join this programme send me an email at foundation@volleyballengland.org.

Finally we have also recruited a number of Ambassadors for the Foundation, we will be adding their profiles to the website shortly.

Foundation chair, Simone Turner said “Its great to have new members joining the Board, I am looking forward to find out more about each of them and working with them to drive forward the ambitions of the Foundation.”
