Looking forward to Beach Volleyball at the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Beach Volleyball at the Commonwealth Games

Beach Volleyball first appeared at the Commonwealth Games at the 2018 Games which was held on the Gold Coast, Australia from 6 to 12 April. The beach volleyball competition was held at Coolangatta Beachfront. There were 48 athletes from 16 Commonwealth nations.

Team England made their debut in beach volleyball at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where the sport appeared on the programme for the first time.

Sending both a men and women's team to Australia, Team England were close to winning a bronze medal but were narrowly edged out.

Team England won for the first ever beach volleyball gold medal in the men’s competition at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games which were held in the Bahamas. So we are all looking forward to 2022 in Birmingham where our home athletes will again be performing on this amazing home sporting stage.

Beach players have been keen to get back on the sand, preparing for for the 2022 Games, missing the 2020 Beach Tour to take part in competitive opportunities and not able to travel at the moment to compete on the continent.

We are still waiting to hear where the venue of the Birmingham site will be located, but where ever it is we know our volleyball volunteers will help to make it an amazing spectacle.

Birmingham 2022 need more than 10,000 volunteers to come together to help us organise, run and manage this dramatic event. The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will bring people from all walks of life together, be they athletes from far-away countries, or neighbours from across the West Midlands. From skilled roles in technology, sport and medical areas, to the thousands of roles we need to fill that require no formal training, the volunteer application process will formally open in 2021.

Register your interest as a 2022 volunteer.

In 2022 we look forward to seeing the most dedicated, highly trained and determined athletes from across 71 nations will come together for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in a momentous celebration of sport, competition and community - can’t wait.

Looking forward to visiting Birmingham in 2022.
