Malory Eagles Throw Back Thursday #TBT y-Barbara Foster

Malory Eagles would like to close this 2020 #TBT campaign dedicating it to a special woman.

Barbara doesn't need a lot of introduction as she has been a UK Volleyball ambassador for quite some time now... She came through the Malory ranks as a schoolgirl and started out when the Malory were based at Crofton leisure Centre, in Catford. Barbara started training with the Seniors and progressed through the ranks to captain the team, winning numerous league and cups in the process. Since 2009 and from the beginning of Malory Eagles she has been such a great role model and leader for our younger and older generations! You must have played against or with her on a Super League (Volleyball England National League), Premier League London Volleyball Association or London Division level!

To Malory Eagles, Barbara has been a very loyal, inspiring, and reliable player who would also assist with admin tasks - she is our valuable Club Membership and Welfare Officer. On court, Barbara had no issue playing as an opposite or outside hitter! Good hands on blocking and a devious blocking face too followed by a cheeky smile - we have been told!!

Comes as no surprise having Carol Gordon around - along with a few more teammates, they would all together start warming up with a few dance tunes at the car park of away games!! Barbara would be Carol's N1 partner in crime for a bit of Candy line dancing!!

Background story... Barbara had to take a couple of short breaks to have two lovely children. Despite the fact they didn't follow us with volleyball, they are enjoying Ballet and Football and we are very fond and proud of! Truth to be told both were dragged along to lots of volleyball matches!!!

Fun fact... Barbara was nearly 7 months pregnant when she stopped playing for the Team during one season... Also, she rang from the maternity unit to check our result in the semi final - an away game at Wolverhampton!! Dedication is her middle name.

To those who haven't met her we hope you will have the joy in the future. The lucky ones who know her, we are positive you have more stories and fun facts over the years!! Feel free to share some.

Thank you Barbara Foster and it has been a pleasure having you in the Malory Eagles family since 2009! Despite your semi retirement we are sure that you're a phone call away... We hope to have you around for much longer!
