Must be bad "I've even missed the referees" said David Williamson

David Williamson Coach at Sitting Bucks Volleyball Club, now a member of the sitting volleyball working group said “The news about the new COVID compliant nets is fantastic and very exciting! Another step nearer getting back on court"

David is keen to get back into training “I've been involved in Sitting Volleyball for over a decade, during that time I've built up some fantastic friendships - and rivalries! So it's the people I've missed most. At the monthly Grand Prix the players always bring family members and they become part of our extended volleyball family. And don't tell anyone but I've even missed the referee's!”

As a club Sitting Bucks have been doing a lot of training via Zoom, coached by David, and have a WhatsApp group to stay in touch on a day-to-day basis.

David tells us that “Its been tough to keep motivation and morale high without a definite return date but the nets being approved, and more importantly funded, is such a boost. It really gives us something to aim for.”

On a personal level I can't wait to take charge of my first match as Head Coach of Sitting Bucks. I know and respect the other coaches so much and going head-to-head with them is going to be such an experience. But on a wider level, just getting everyone back on court, knowing we've helped each other get through such a tumultuous period of time.

Hearing the sound of the first whistle for the first serve of the first game back is going to be a really important moment.

The COVID nets mean so much to the sport, we will be able to get back on court and pick up where we left off and that the club will survive. Its as simple and as important as that.”

On behalf of Sitting Bucks Volleyball Club and the whole sitting community thank you to the Foundation for their support in getting both the nets and cleaning equipment to ensure players can get back on court in a safe and protected environment.
