Volleyball Development Camps - What they're all about!

What volleyball camp(s) do you guys have coming up this summer?

“One week-long residential camp has already been held. To come are the week-long Elite Camp, the English as a Second Language/Volleyball camp, two weekend camps called Pathways and Emerging Elite will be held in Newcastle, our annual pre-season Boot Camp, the workshop mentioned in my original email, and Eight Simple Rules (a weekend camp for recreational adults) are scheduled through September but the later ones may have to be rescheduled. Our three-day GCSE practical exam camp takes place during the October school break and our showcase tournament for Under-17s is in late November. We are planning up to six week-long camps next summer, some residential and possibly two being held abroad”.

What age range do you attract to your camps?

“Age 10 to adult, but participation in different camps is skills-based rather than age-based. That said, most are for teens of various abilities from learning individual ball-handling skills to athletes playing for their national junior team”.

What do your camps include?

“Carefully prepared curriculums delivered by coaches recognised for their skill in specific types of training, for instance in coaching the very young or in coaching professional clubs. A number of overseas coaches staff our camps, which have an international client base. We try to maintain a 1:6 coach to athlete ratio and to use the best available facilities.”

Overall, what is your favourite things about the camps you run?

“Our philosophy, which resonates well with the coaches who deliver the camps: high quality training in an environment that 1. stresses the responsibility of the athlete in the athlete-coach relationship, 2. demands self-discipline, 3. requires complete focus on the development of volleyball skills during the session, and 4. emphasises that failure is an integral part of the learning process so long as the athlete actually makes an effort to analyse their error and adapt”.

Thank-you for your time guys!
