What's the difference between Volleyball England and the Volleyball England Foundation?
At the recent Volleyball England AGM, at which our Company Secretary Janet Inman gave an update about the Volleyball England Foundation, a very interesting question was asked
“What is the difference between Volleyball England and the Foundation?”
Adam Walker the VE Chair explained that both organisations sit and work together closely to support the delivery of the VE Strategic Plan and have a joint responsibility for supporting the Volleyball Community.
Janet Inman defined the role of the Foundation as a partner to VE and because of their charitable status, able to apply for funding that VE don’t have access to. Volleyball represents the sport as a National Governing Body, setting the rules, running competitions and responsibly for the technical development of the sport. The Foundation will do what it can to receive donations and grant funding to support the strategic direction set out by the Board of Volleyball England.
Similarities between the 2 organisations: -
· Both have a Board of Directors / Trustees that work to deliver the sports strategic operations.
· Both comply to the Sport England and UK Sport Code of Sporting Governance.
· Both are here to work for and support the delivery of Volleyball across the country.
· Both support the Volleyball community workforce.
Differences between the 2 organisations: -
· Volleyball England has a paid workforce, the Foundation workforce are all volunteers
· Volleyball England receives funding from Sport England and other national funders – the foundation if funded through donations and funding secured from other charitable organisations and foundations.
· Strategic direction is set by the Volleyball England Board, working in collaboration, areas are identified that the Foundation can provide added support.
Over the next few days members of our Volleyball Community will tell us what they think the difference between the 2 organisations are.
