Tigers hoping to get back on court soon.

Tettenhall Tigers is predominantly a junior club and therefore information has to go to, and through, parents/carers

The biggest challenges have been and are establishing whether the venue is available and when. We have been very fortunate that our training (not match) venue have been really helpful and positive. Our match venue still is unavailable. Both are school based.

Other challenges-

Working out and costing new protocols, procedures and resources needed

Devising new personal detail forms and ways to quickly communicate with parents

Adapting to the ever-changing rules both local and national

Agonising over what is the right thing to do even if it is legal. We have a club with children and young people from 19 different schools. The City is in localised lockdown but we are allowed to train. But should we? We put our return to play on hold last week as we felt it not appropriate. The decision took hours and hours to make and we’re not sure what is right.

What new precautions have you put in place following VE guidance?

The VE risk assessment template has been useful as a checklist. We have produced a time-line risk assessment. It looks at preparation before e.g. registers, pre-training set up, player ‘bring with you’ lists, arrivals and departures and in session procedures.

We have spent over £70 on sanitiser, disinfectant, etc

We have had to re-jig numbers to adhere to 30 people

We have had to work in parent numbers who need to stay as their children are young into the 30 max number

Have most of you club members returned?

We put out a quick Yes/No/Maybe survey and everyone wanted to return, which is brilliant

Have you had any new members start?

We haven’t started back yet but we have two new enquiries

During lockdown one of our parents has done a brilliant job posting something everyday on our Facebook page. She has been so imaginative with player features, good luck with exam results messages, birthday shout outs, etc. Our website too has been up to date with information. Both have attracted interest from potential players.

What can the foundation do to support you getting back on your feet?

Thank you, Janet and all the Foundation team for doing such a brilliant job. We are fortunate at the moment in terms of funding but when it comes to supporting individuals who may well need extra financial help to enable them to play we will definitely knock on your door.

Keep up the good work!
